Dental Implants

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small biocompatible titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as an artificial tooth root. Over time, the implant fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration, creating a stable foundation for a crown, bridge, or denture.

The Implant Process

  1. Consultation & 3D Imaging – We assess bone structure, gum health, and your overall suitability for implants.
  2. Surgical Placement – The implant is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia.
  3. Healing Period – Over the next few months, the implant integrates with the bone.
  4. Restoration – Once your periodontist confirm the integration of the implant, you are referred to your general dentist or prosthodontist to prepare a customised dental crown, bridge, or denture for a natural, functional result.

As periodontists, we use advanced diagnostic tools and surgical techniques to ensure your implant is placed precisely and supported by healthy bone and gum tissue. Your treatment plan is fully customized based on your anatomy, health, and restorative goals.

Regular home care combined with professional maintenance is key to preserving the function, esthetics, and longevity of your dental implants. While some patients can maintain implants with standard cleanings every 6 months, others may require cleanings every 3–4 months for optimal care. Your periodontist will assess your needs and customise a maintenance care plan for you.
